Sharon Broxton

To meet Sharon Broxton, is to meet one of the most stylish and classy women in Atlanta. Upon first glance, one would think she worked in fashion, and they wouldn’t be too far off the mark. She worked for a number of years as a wardrobe stylist for Banana Republic and Wet Seal. However, being a personal stylist didn’t quite measure up to her vision for a personal career.

Even after obtaining a degree in Communications, Sharon chose to follow her heart. Sharon chose hair. Sharon Broxton is currently a manager and stylist in Atlanta’s, Salon Ajee’. While she has definitely worked her way up through the ranks, she had very humble beginnings.

Sharon walked into the salon with no formal training, just her personal experience and love for the trade and it has paid off tremendously. After working in the front end of the salon for about a year, Sharon began what would be a two year apprenticeship. She has since taken a number of classes to hone her skills, and rightfully so. . .

Sharon explains that in Atlanta, also known as Black Hollywood, “a person’s hair is an important extension of their wardrobe and in turn, women take their hair style choices very seriously.” As a result, Sharon continuously nurtures her love for fashion in order to understand the correlation it has with innovative and popular hair styles. She points out that the current bright color trend in fashion has also made its way to the salon as more people are beginning to wear colored tresses.

Sharon foresees a bright future for herself in the world of hair. Part of her success is due to the early realization that one can’t always work in the place they call home; they must consider their market and follow the money.

She is presently working with a mentor in New York to create a deeper understanding of platform education. In time, she aspires to own her own salon, do more in salon education, and eventually own her own hair product line.

. . . but for now, Mrs. Broxton is a force behind the chair and definitely a stylist on top of her game!
