I’ve always had a love for writing. I can remember being in maybe the third grade and getting into trouble because of something I’d written in my diary, so I guess it was inevitable that the content of my novellas be equally as surprising to some. When my grandmother read my diary many years ago; she couldn’t believe the words had come from me. This is the same feeling I have now as I re-read Mafietta 1 and 2. I had a wish to write a book for so long and now I can’t believe those words came from me. They seem foreign now and are interesting to me all over again. It has been months since I’ve read Mafietta and about a month since I’ve read Mafietta 2: A House Divided, so I am glad to take this time to reread my novellas with you, my readers.
My goal is to leave my blinders off and enjoy the characters anew with you. I promise to read every review, old and new to get a better understanding of where you are and how you feel about the series. So whether you begin with the second book and work your way backwards or read the series in order; it is important to me that you all understand the depth of love Errol and Clarke feel for each other. Clarke has to change in a major way to become Mafietta, but it is important to understand why she did this. While we can make the answer to this question as complex as we want; the truth is that she did it out of love for Errol.
To give you an example of their love would be to take a look at Beyoncé and Jay-Z. They were actually my muses in portraying the love between Clarke and Errol. For example, both couples share a visible connection and genuine love for each other while being beasts in their business.
In Mafietta, Clarke and Errol are just going about it in a very different way. In other words, let’s tilt this thought and have The Carters be the same powerhouse couple on the other side of the law – Now, that couple is the one in my book. That couple is Clarke and Errol.
So, please take this ride with me and grab a copy of Mafietta on Monday! That is my birthday wish – I wish you would all buy yourself copies of Mafietta as your birthday gift to me. It would really help me have the best Mafietta Monday/Happy Birthday ever.
Besides, it’s my birthday and you can’t tell the birthday girl no.
